The Setting - Taken from Goodreads
First volume in a fabulous fantasy advenure with a Victorian-era feel - featuring mages, dragons and two girls who'll decide the fate of their world.
My Two Cents
So the synopsis on Goodreads is pretty detailed, if you can't tell from above. While the synopsis is a little over a sentence Cold Magic is close to 600 pages long. This book is not for the faint of heart. But if you can skim over the often repeated politics and histories descriptions, this series has something to offer every fantasy lover, especially those squealing romantics. Cat is the man character here although her sister Bee is very much a part of this book. Cat is suddenly taken from her family and married off to a Cold Mage (Andevai). Cat hates everything about Andevai. On their journey back to the Mage house Cat makes some new alliances that will impact the next few years of her life. But with her strange magical abilities, just who is Cat Barahal? While there is little romance in this book, Elliott has set the stage for an epic journey for everyone who is involved with Cat and Bee. And, must I say this again, there is a fine line between love and hate (ahem, Cat and Andevai!). I'm awarding Cold Magic 3.5 out of 5 stars. As I am behind on blogging and just finished this series I can safely say that each book in this trilogy gets better and better. Good things come to those who wait (or make it through 600 page books)!
