Lady Thief (Scarlet, #2)Book Review:  Lady Thief

Author:  A.C. Gaughen
Published:  February 2014
Series:  Scarlet #2
Genre:  Ya Fantasy/Retellings

The Setting - Taken from Goodreads
Scarlet’s true identity has been revealed, but her future is uncertain. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate at court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves.

My Two Cents
So the first book in this series, Scarlet, was good but the love triangle almost made me throw in the towel.  You will be glad to know that Lady Thief has her shit together...(pardon my french there).  No more annoying love triangle.  And Scarlet is forced into the arms of her husband by law, the dubious Lord Gisbourne, to try and save the people, and man, she loves.  Wowsers!  What a book!  What a plot filled with tension and intrigue!  With just one man for Scarlet to focus on, A.C. Gaughen has hit a home run for me.  Scarlet and Robin's romance is MUCH improved (not to be confused with the actual character Much) and I am dying for more.  But sadly more will not come for about a year.  Why are trilogy's spaced over years a fad right now?  I'm awarding Lady Thief 5 out of 5 stars.  Go forth, make it through Scarlet, and enjoy the reading pleasure that is Lady Thief!
