DAYS OF BLOOD & STARLIGHT

Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2)Book Review:  Days of Blood & Starlight

Author:  Laini Taylor
Published:  November 2012
Series:  Daughter of Smoke and Bone #1
Genre:  YA Paranormal

The Setting - Taken from Goodreads
Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.

While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.

But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

My Two Cents
To be honest, I had all but forgotten about this series.  But a fellow book nerd pulled me in and I have to say I'm glad she did.  I loved the world building and quirkiness even more in Days of Blood and StarlightWhile romance fans might be a tad disappointed with Days of Blood and Starlight, there was still many good things to keep your attention in this second book.  Yes Akiva and Karou can't work out anything between them and their chance encounters in the book were strained...and awkward!  But Karou and Akiva each have their own trials apart, and bloodshed is a given for each.  Even if you weren't that impressed with Daughter of Smoke and Bone and suggest forging ahead and reading this second book, and the third (coming out in April) is promised to awesome sauce!  I'm giving Days of Blood and Starlight 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I recommend this series to paranormal and Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days series) fans!
