The Setting - Taken from Goodreads
When MacKayla's sister was murdered, she left a single clue to her death - a cryptic message on Mac's cell phone. As the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac's true mission becomes clear: to find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book - because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control both worlds in their hands...

My Two Cents
So this is a very long series...Moning has planned 10 books.  And this first book, Darkfever, was fascinating.  I picked up this series because all my fellow book bloggers LOVED the 5th book.  Kind of a long way to go to get to the prize... but I was struggling through a novel and this sounded like the light and fluffy book I needed.  I think the thing I loved most was the world Moning created.  There are no elves, well as far as this book is concerned, and every Fae you encounter is deadly somehow.  Not your typical fantasy in this regard.  I absolutely could not get enough of this magical realm, and I think my eyes will only be opened further through subsequent books.  Mac's transformation from barbie doll to Fae killer is comical and endears you to her even more.  However comical though, be warned!  This is an adult book!  While there was no sex outright, there was plenty of suggestive scenes and comments.  I'm giving Darkfever 4 out of 5 stars, mostly due to the world building.  I'm not sure if I will be able to make it to the prized 5th book.  Books in a series are seriously draining this bookie!
